So scrolling through social media there is little doubt that you have not seen a Smoothie Bowl! I guess in an effort to slow down in our fast paced world and we can actually sit down and eat a bowl of traditional smoothie ingredients. Plus you can add fun toppings and make it even more delicious and interesting!
So this morning Shelton and I set out to make a berry smoothie bowl! In the kitchen with a five year old is quite fun. She is so imaginative and loves mixing up ingredients. So on to our recipe.
For the Smoothie:
1 frozen banana (I cut and keep in the freezer at all times)
1 Cup frozen blueberries (choose you favorite frozen berries)
1/4-1/3 Cup of your favorite milk (I used unsweetened full fat coconut milk since this was for my daughter. For me- unsweetened almond milk)
1 scoop of creamy vanilla plant-based protein powder (non-GMO, gluten free, vegan, soy free, dairy free, 15grams of protein) buy here
Directions:
Place the frozen banana and blueberries in a high powdered blender. I use this one. Pulse till fruits are in small chunks scraping down the sides often. Then add milk and protein powder. Blend until smooth. You want it think like ice cream. Scoop into your bowl and add toppings.
Organic unsweetened Coconut flakes
Organic Pomegranate seeds
Organic Raw Pumpkin seeds
Organic Raw Sunflower seeds
Organic Fresh Strawberries
**Obviously we don’t use nuts due to allergies but that would be a great topping too!
It was a great and delicious adventure this morning! Looking at the picture I bet you agree!
Enjoy!
