Thanksgiving 2020 🦃

Shelton loves to eat at the dinning room table and light candles. I’m thankful she enjoys hospitality.

I’ve learned a few things this Thanksgiving. First, it takes just as long to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for three as it does for a group. Second, I still eat too much even when making tiny portions. Third, I am grateful for technology to see my family for the prayer even if I cannot hug them. Just seeing their faces and hearing their voices was so meaningful.

This year we swapped our 9×13 Pyrex of sweet potatoes for twice baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows and pecans for Scott & me.

ā€œThanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidenceā€.

This year we had a tiny smoked turkey & honey baked ham with miniature versions of our favorites. Seven-layer salad, twice baked sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, dressing, jello, pumpkin parfait, and cranberry relish from my sweet neighbor. I made our Piggott chocolate pie but couldn’t even eat a bite. I have no doubt it will be eaten this weekend.

Pumpkin parfait in place of
the traditional pumpkin pie.

Each Thanksgiving we eat, watch Hallmark movies and football games. This year was no different. And a good time was had by all.

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
